Abstract
On "Afternoon in June" and various animals in combat, primarily ants; Fourth of July, and Howard has been drinking; wanted to go to the rodeo at Stamford, but could not afford it; on the death of "Jack o'Diamonds" at a local rodeo, leading into a recollection of the deaths of Steve Baccus, William E. Tinney, C.V. "Skeezix" Ramsey, Melson C. Wakefield, Bob Ensor, Arch Davidson, Jack Davis, and John Teague; on a shot trip to Santa Fe, NM and Lincoln, site of the Lincoln County War, and what he drank on the trip; wishing he could travel more (and a brief note on travels to Brownwood, De Leon, and Mineral Wells, TX).
