Sterling has been sober for 81 days; Sterling written nothing much but prose for months, as he needs the money; on long poems; asking after Leo, as Sterling is worried; more on Smith's painting; on Donald Wandrei's essay ("The Emperor of Dreams"), with its references to Shakespeare, Coleridge, and Keats, and comparing to the reception to "A Wine of Wizardry," but suggests it can be run in the Overland Monthly. Enclosed: Asking is Smith gets the Overland Monthly, which Sterling contributes to regularly; Lilith roasted in the New Republic.
