Smith's drawing arrived; Sterling was down with a cold or flue, but has been working on a narrative poem of lesbians and incest; asking for a copy of "The Envoys" for the Overland Monthly (with brief mention of "The Abominations of Yondo"); Lilith hasn't arrived yet; two weeks ago Sterling was on a ranch in Carmel, hunting quail, deer, and salmon; Dreiser wrote a foreword for Lilith (though Edgar Lee Masters wanted to, Sterling had already asked Deiser); Sterling still hearing from Benjamin de Casseres.
