Sterling doesn't care much for Baudelaire, but likes Smith's translation of "La Géante" best; Sterling never read the Book of Jade; Sterling sent the American Mercury, and asks Smith to cut out the article; a vision of an old woman reading Ebony & Crystal and asking for a poem for the Overland Monthly.
