FROM George Sterling
TO Clark Ashton Smith

The 10 Story Book came; Sterling has not received the Literary Times for a month (and on the poems editors want); Sterling can't afford a proper dentist, but is working on Smith's remittance; poverty forcing Sterling to write prose; Sterling had been to Los Angeles to attend the funeral of the wife of Roosevelt Johnson, and saw The Thief of Bagdad (and on Douglas Faribanks' titles); Sterling decided he cannot afford to go to Bohemian Grove. Enclosed: "Farm of Fools," other unidentified poems.
