FROM George Sterling
TO Clark Ashton Smith
20-Aug-1923

Abstract

Apologies for the overdue letter; praise for Smith's poems "Change" and "A Valediction" (with reference to Bierce); when Sterling is financially liquid again, he'll buy Smith one of those books, but he'll be gone for a good part of September and October; asking to know when Benjamin de Casseres reviews Ebony and Crystal and Selected Poems; Sterling did not go to the grove-play, for want of money and not wanting to drink. Postscript: Sterling written almost nothing for three months.
