FROM George Sterling
TO Clark Ashton Smith

Smith's sample copies of Ebony and Crystal arrived as Sterling was laid up after drinking bootleg whiskey, but has gotten it to newspapers and the Argonaut to get reviews in print; warning Smith not to expect much from the reviews, but that Gelber, Newbeing, and Robertson are pushing the book; asking for directions about Paul Elder; Albert M. Bender asking for five copies; asking about Samuel Loveman's Twenty-One Letters of Ambrose Bierce, which H. L. Mencken is going to criticize in the Smart Set.
