Newbegin returned Smith's drawings, and Smith almost ready to give up on drawing; enclosing a sonnet, and unable to sell anything, though he gave two poems to Frank Harris' Pearson's ("Laus Mortis" and "Ecstasy"); asking if Sterling is still avoiding alcohol, mentioning absinthe; asking for more poems, praising "Atthan Dances"; asking Sterling to give his love to Marie Parmeley. Enclosed: "Secret Love."
