FROM Clark Ashton Smith
TO George Sterling
18-May-1921

Abstract

Thanks for Sterling's letter and poems; Smith has been writing too (although some may be too much for the Anti-Vice Society); Alice Meynell was too ill to read the Ebony and Crystal manuscript and returned it, so Smith submitted it to Boni & Liveright; asking how much it cost to publish "Lilith"; Smith has an exhibition at the Public Library in Los Angeles (with mention of Hargens Book-Shop), and another display at the Art-Club in Sacramento; on a visit to Roseville where he encountered several forms of home-brew; many thanks for the financial assistance, as Smith has given up on wood-cutting due to his health; expecting to visit Northbrae. Enclosed: "A Psalm to the Best Beloved."
