Abstract
Apologies for not writing; thanks for the financial assistance, as there is little work; Smith began "Ode to Aphrodite" but gave it up, as Smith is sick of old subjects and images; on Alice Meynell (who praised The Star-Treader); Smith probably not to visit San Francisco, having sworn off Prohibition-liquor and preferring married women; Smith has read A Bed of Roses by W. L. George and Of Human Bondage by W. Somerset Maugham.
