Abstract

Smith awaiting "Rosamund" and hunting for a publisher for Ebony and Crystal; Smith having written little, given the summer to drawing, but the proposed exhibition didn't happen as Hargen of the Old Book Shop held the drawings and then refused to handle them; Smith heard nothing of Mrs. Clark or her allowance since she went abroad, and the only thing he seems to sell is firewood; on the shingles and hives; Samuel Loveman has been unwell, but Smith is glad Sterling wrote to him. Enclosed: "Requiescat."
