Abstract

Mrs. Clark suffered a relapse, but is better now; Sterling motored past, but did not stop to call; on the poems Smith sent ("Mirrors" and "Inferno"), and sent them to H. L. Menken (and proffered some advice on editors); hope Smith's mother (and weather) are better; a note on Andrew Dewing, who is unwell; Sterling having written nothing for two months, but is sober again and been asked to write a 4th of July poem ("The Messenger").
