Smith received Sterling's book The Caged Eagle and Other Poems (mentioning "Conspiracy," "The Caged Eagle," "Shakespeare," "The Shadow of Nirvana," "The Fall of the Year," "The Gleaner," and "Moloch"); on Smith's health and a planned volume of fantastic prose; Smith's parents laid up with sciatica and a bruised leg, and Smith himself packing fruit; Smith submitting to magazines but not selling, and enclosing a copy of "Coldness" for Bohemia; Smith wishes he could see Sterling, and asks him to remind Dr. Abrams to come up to Auburn; on the weather and sleeping outdoors.
