Abstract

Sterling hasn't heard from Smith in a while, and is still in New York, can't get to Yosemite for a bit, and too poor to visit - though Albert M. Bender wants Smith to attend the Exposition in San Francisco, and will pay Smith's way; Sterling had written nothing, but been in correspondence with Samuel Loveman, who asked for a Nora May French manuscript; on failed plans to drive through Yosemite and Auburn, Jack London due back from Honolulu; Markham here (and on the Exposition poems).
