Abstract
Sterling has been out of town, and wrote an ode for the Examiner; thanks for Smith's praise of his book; a quote from Lafler on Smith's "Harlot of the World", who also offers to let Smith visit him in Oakland; a dismissive note on the plaudits to Sterling in issues of New Age (which he picked up at Bretano's); winter in New York; Turner in New York for a few weeks, and Scheffauer likely to return to America soon; enclosing an article; hoping Smith has something to share, as Sterling can't even spare an ode.
