The Hoppers come and gone; praise for Smith's sonnets (with mention of Ambrose Bierce and "The Ghoul, the Cypress, and the Grave"), with a note on morbidity; on being patient for magazines to return poems; Sterling to send Morrow's book, behind on letters and having written nothing; Sterling's mother and youngest sister staying at Pine Inn on the way to Catalina Island; Sterling and his dog in their hunting outfit, and the weather; planning a trip to Jack London's. Postscript: Asking Smith to inscribe a book for Mrs. Augusta Dolph.
