FROM George Sterling
TO Clark Ashton Smith
21-Dec-1911

Abstract

Apologies for not writing; Sterling's trip to Jack London's ranch in Glen Ellen (and owing letters to Sara Teasdale, Gen. Foote, Yone Noguchi, Samuel Loveman, etc.); on Samuel Loveman; on the poems Smith sent ("Star-Treader," "Song from Hell," "Paradise Lost") and sorry he can't come down for the winter; on "Ode to the Abyss" and the North American Review; advising Smith to accept Robertson's offer, and offering to look over Smith's manuscripts (mentioning Ambrose Bierce); thanks for the sonnet ("To George Sterling") and the "lyrics in little"; good to be back in Carmel, and working on a "Christmas Poem" for the Bohemian Club.
