Abstract
Thanks for the letter, praising "The Silver Key" above Lord Dunsany; asking for loans of "Celephaïs," "The Moon-Bog," and "From Beyond" (with comparisons to Edgar Allan Poe and Dunsany's A Dreamer's Tales, and praise for "The Strange High House in the Mist"); enclosing "The Devotee of Evil" (formerly "The Satanist" or "The Manichaean"); hope the dinosaur bone arrived safely; Smith sitting for a portrait by Charles Matlie; spring is coming (with a quote from Baudelaire); glad to hear of Lovecraft's projected southern trip. Postscript: On a reputedly haunted house that inspired "The Devotee of Evil."
