Abstract
On Clark Ashton Smith's early stories in the Black Cat ("The Mahout" and "The Rajah and the Tiger"), leading in to discussion of Oriental influence on his writing (mentioning the Arabian Nights, Rudyard Kipling, Lallah Rookh, William Beckford's Vathek, and the Overland Monthly); on possible legal action against Hugo Gernsback, thanking Wandrei for his recommendation of Nat Schachner as a lawyer, but for the moment following Charles Hornig's advice.
