Abstract
Considerable rain and snow in California; holidays demoralizing, and Smith's latest health troubles; the check for "The Nameless Offspring" arrived from Bates, and Smith in turn sending revisions for the story; Farnsworth Wright has accepted "The Weird of Avoosl Wuthoqquan" but not yet "The Demon of the Flower"; Smith sending his unsold shorts ("The Epiphany of Death, "A Tale of Sir John Maundeville", and "The Devotee of Evil") to Carl Swanson; Wright scheduling "The Planet of the Dead" for the March Weird Tales and "The Eternal World" to appear in March Wonder Stories, with "The Hunters from Beyond" possibly appearing in the March Strange Tales; on the weird stories in The Omnibus of Crime, including J. Sheridan Le Fanu's "Green Tea," Robert Hichen's "How Love Came to Professor Guildea," Arthur Machen's "The Novel of the Black Seal," John Metcalfe's "The Bad Lands," Edward Lucas White's "Lukundoo," Ambrose Bierce's "Moxon's Master" (compared poorly to "The Death of Halpin Frayser") and M. R. Jame's "Martin's Close."
