Abstract
On the substitutions suggests for Henry Harrison's anthology California Poets (mentioning "Symbols" and "The Secret"); glad Lyman and Helen Hoyt like the new poems (and on unrhymed poems); "Mystery" never sold, and Smith grateful for Helen Hoyt attempting to place it; asking if Lyman has written any poetry lately; thanks for the scientific books (including James Jeans and Robert Millikan), with mention of Charles Fort's The Book of the Damned and Albert Einstein; on the founders of speculative fiction (H. G. Wells, Edgar Allan Poe, and Jules Verne); enclosing copies of the poems requested, including "Mystery."
