Abstract
Appreciation for Lovecraft's "From Beyond", with suggestion to try it on Science Wonder Stories and Astounding Stories; asking for the loan of "The Quest of Iranon," "The Unnamable," "The Outsider," "Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family," and "Celephaïs"; on Smith's writing, "Andromeda" unfinished, "The Planet of the Dead" half-written, "The Satyr" finished, Farnsworth Wright accepted "The Phantoms of the Fire" but rejected "The Devotee f Evil" and "A Murder in the Fourth Dimension"; praise for Lovecraft's sonnet ("Recapture") in Weird Tales, and comment on his own "The End of the Story"; derision at Wright printing "The Land of Lur" by Earl Leaston Bell while rejecting anything of Lovecraft's; on a portrait, mentioning Herkomer, Charles Matlie, John Singer Sargent, and Genevieve Sully; hope Lovecraft will get around to some original work, and glad to see the Weird Tales readership agrees; Lovecraft free to keep the enclosures, including the articles on Carlsbad Caverns, with a suggestion to add Tsathoggua to his dinosaur story idea; Smith outlines a possible Hyperborean tale (that will become "The Testament of Athammaus"). Postscript on the discovery of Pluto.
