Abstract
Thanks for the poems and clippings; on Percy Hutchinson's review of Lilith; too bad H. L. Mencken didn't run Strange Waters (and Mencken and the American Mercury getting too respectable); on Smith's lack of academic training in painting (citing Robert Winthrop Chanler and Hubert von Herkomer); mention of some paintings sold; Smith wanting to write more poetry, but sweating off sonnets and quatrains; on letter-writing; on Sterlng's "Rhymes and Reactions" in the Overland Monthly; brief mention of B. Virginia Lee, editor of the Overland Monthly.
