Abstract
Smith on bed rest after collapsing in public; Smith's recent reading (an Adams novel, Leo Tolstoy's Resurrection, Joseph Conrad's The Rescue: A Romance of the Shadows); on Casanova (which Smith only knows from an essay in Havelock Ellis' Affirmations), and vices; on not having heard from George Sterling, and fearing that he suffers under Prohibition (with reference to Margaret Nicol and squirrel-poisoning).
