Abstract
Smith begs off visiting Sterling at Carmel; wanting to see Viereck's remarks on Noyes (with reference to Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Edgar Allan Poe); on Smith's latest poems ("The Medusa of Despair," "Gothic Nightmare," and "The Doom of America," which includes a reference to women's suffrage); on some weird prose-poems Smith has planned on carnivorous alien plant life (with the proposed title "The Forest of Strange Horror"); Smith returns the French translations.
