Abstract

Lovecraft reads a translation of James Rhoades' The Poems of Virgil, and recounts a lengthy dream where he was a Roman soldier and encountered a nameless horror, and a strange dark folk who worshiped a deity he called Magnum Innominandum. The same dream was published after Lovecraft's death as "The Very Old Folk," and is given in a letter to Frank Belknap Long and a letter to Bernard Austin Dwyer.
