Abstract
On their mutual appreciation of ancient Rome (and Robert E. Howard's love of ancient Gaul and Britain), Lovecraft fantasizes of Roman explorers in exotic lands, on Last and First Men (with reference to J. Forrest Ackermann), on Lovecraft's inability to keep pets and Kappa Alpha Tau, on the appeal of cats (with reference to The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath and Leiber's fiction), on humanity's response to superstition and the marvelous.
