Abstract
On a poetry textbook is writing, an essay on the nature of poetry (containing as well a materialist discussion of art, truth, prophecy, and religion), notes on Toldridge's poetry, on the cuttings Toldridge sent (particularly on Native American poetry and art), on his trip into western Rhode Island and the accompanying travelogue he wrote on it.
Part of this letter was excerpted as the essay "Poetry and the Artistic Ideal."
