Abstract

A brief examination in how H. P. Lovecraft's materialist, scientific nature was married with understanding of human psychology and human inability to fully face the repercussions of scientific discovery, and thus his "predictions" for the future are more far-reaching than some of his contemporaries. Mosig focuses in particular on "The Outsider" as an exemplar of Lovecraft's philosophy.
