Joshi looks at two possible influences for Lovecraft's stories, A Strange Manuscript Found In A Copper Cylinder (1888) by James De Mille on "The Mound" (1930) and The Frozen Pirate (1887) by W. Clark Russell on At the Mountains of Madness (1931).
