Abstract
An examination of Lovecraft's relationship with Weird Tales, particularly his letters published in the magazine, those letters of fans that recognized or appreciated his work, and finally the response by readers and fellow-authors to his death. Originally published as the introduction to H. P. Lovecraft in "The Eyrie", this essay was later retitled and included in Primal Sources.
